BoldFace Productions and UTV have linked up with Community Foundation for Northern Ireland Voices Initiatives, to allow young people to have their say on social issues in a programme called ‘BoldVoices’.

The half hour programme consists of six short films made by young people aged 14-25 and are titled ‘What is Gay’, ‘Travellers: We Are Not All The Same’, ‘I Am Homeless’, ‘It’s not Joy-Riding’, ‘Don’t Shh…Domestic Abuse’ and ‘The Beauty of Difference’. The programme will be shown on UTV on Thursday August 4th at 11.05pm.

It was produced by Peter Weil of BoldFace Productions who said “I was immensely impressed by the high level of filmmaking the Bold Voices team showed. I’m thrilled that as a result of our partnership with UTV it will be possible to give these films a far wider audience than we had ever thought possible. All those involved were given specific training to develop technical and creative skills to make these short films.”

BoldFace Productions provide film production training to young people and their communities. The programme was produced in conjunction with Community Foundation for Northern Ireland. Managing Director of UTV Michael Wilson said “As a public service broadcaster UTV is keen to represent all sections of our community. We are delighted to give these talented young people the opportunity to show their films to a mainstream Northern Ireland audience. BoldVoices will give our viewers a real insight into the issues these young film makers are concerned about and we are proud to showcase their work and nurture future talent.”

’BoldVoices’ will be shown on UTV August 4th 2011 at 11.05pm. BoldFace Productions and the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland are currently raising funds to have another edition of ‘BoldVoices’ produced next year. Participants in the project come through the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland. For more information on the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland visit communityfoundationni.org.
