Alan Gilsenan’s IFTA winning film ‘Timbuktu’ has been selected for inclusion in the prestigious Premieres series being held in New York City to celebrate the reopening of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in Manhattan.
Premieres is a ten-week series that celebrates the extraordinary diversity of contemporary film and media by artists worldwide. ‘Timbuktu’ will be the only Irish film screening in a 198-film series of short and feature-length works, marking the reopening of the Museum on its 75th anniversary.
The series also includes the U.S. premiere of films such as Abbas Kiarostami's new work ‘Five', as well as Oscar contenders ‘The Aviator’, ‘Les Choristes’ (The Chorus), and ‘The Life Aquatic’.
‘Timbuktu’ stars Eva Birthistle (Ae Fond Kiss) and Karl Geary. The film picked up the Best Feature prize at the recent Boston Irish Film Festival and was nominated in seven categories at the Irish Film and Television Awards winning awards for Best Editing (Emer Reynolds) and Best Music (Ray Harmon).
