Digital Hub Reports Massive Growth In 2004
04 Jan 2005 :

The Dublin based Digital Hub Development Agency has reported substantial progress in their 2004 end-of-year statement, with the number of companies within the Thomas Street complex more than doubling over the past twelve months.

Since its establishment in 2003 The Digital Hub Development Agency has developed two of its nine acre site and plans to move forward into its major development and expansion phase two over the next two years.

According to the Chief Executive of the Digital Hub Development Agency, Philip Flynn, “the critical success factor for us in 2004 has been the attraction of 24 new companies to the site, bringing to over 300 the number of people now working in The Digital Hub. This represents more than a doubling of companies on last year’s numbers.”

Over the next decade, the Agency plans to deliver a development comprising digital media enterprise, retail and residential units, learning and civic space.

The Agency is currently in the latter stages of negotiations with a ‘preferred bidder’ to complete the development of the Hub but promises to accommodate new companies basing themselves in The Digital Hub by putting in place “a state-of-the-art, temporary space to house further tenants in 2005.”

In addition to this expansion the Digital Hub Development Agency reports the installation of a 3.5km fibre optic ring and a Network Operations Centre interconnecting the project with the Dublin City Metropolitan Area Network and the completion of 20 learning programmes involving over 6,000 people, including sixteen local schools, the wider community of the Liberties, and the Irish digital media sector and received the ‘Best Business/Arts Collaboration in the Community’ award at the 2004 Allianz Business2Arts Awards.
