Monster Launches Animated Zimbabwean Series at MIPCOM

Monster Distributes Launches first animated series from Zimbabwe at MIPCOM Junior!

Jungle Beat, a fun quirky series of 5 minute CGI animated shorts, will be launched by Monster Distributes at MIPCOM Junior. The series, which has already won several international awards, will consist of 13 episodes initially.

From producers Sunrise Productions, Jungle Beat features a cast of animals in bizarre situations, with hilarious results, including 'Always Take The Weather With You', where Monkey wakes to a very unfamiliar sight - snow covers the jungle in which he lives. It is the start of a very trying day for Monkey as the weather continues with its naughty tricks. Other stories feature adventures with Frog, Tortoise, Giraffe, Bee, Ant and Ostrich.

Jungle Beat is part of a package of animation from Sunrise that Monster will be representing internationally, including Once Upon a Stable and The Legend of the Sky Kingdom. Sunrise Productions was founded in 1998 by a group of Zimbabwean entrepreneurs whose priority is to consistently produce content-driven high quality entertainment to inspire people from all over the world.

Other Monster Distributes programmes screening at MIPCOM Junior will be Kids’ Ten Commandments, 5 x half hour, which ITV will broadcast on Sunday mornings from September, and which has also been sold to KIKA among others, Bugtime Adventures, a 13 x half hour series which brings bible stories to life through the eyes of a community of friendly bugs, Hermie and Friends, including Hermie: A Common Caterpillar, Flo: The Lyin’ Fly and Webster: The Scaredy Spider, which will have 5 half hour episodes available by MIPCOM, while 13 half hours will be complete late 2005, I’m an Animal, 52 x 2 mins, produced by Academy Award Nominees Brown Bag Films, is an animated series for pre-preschool children, featuring animals introducing themselves and talking about who they are and what they do, and 2004 Oscar-winning short animated film, Harvie Krumpet.

Monster’s animated catalogue also includes pre-school animated series Why?, and specials Ape, The Toll Collector, The Lost Little Caterpillar and The Legend of the Candy Cane.

Monster Distributes is also busy in the documentary genre and will have its 100th episode of Planet Rock Profiles complete in time for MIPCOM. Planet Rock is the world’s leading series of biographies of celebrity musicians, including artists such as Kylie Minogue, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM and Coldplay. Planet Rock is ITV’s longest-running commissioned series for their late evening. Now in series 8, Planet Rock is broadcasting in 124 countries and on 47 airlines.
