Alan
Parker, who is currently in postproduction on the screen adaptation
of "Angela's Ashes," and has direct such films as "Midnight Express,"
"Fame," "Shoot the Moon," "Angel Heart" and "Evita," will receive
the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Cinema Expo International
Convention.
The writer-producer-director
will be presented with his honour at a June 21 dinner hosted by
Universal Pictures International at the RAI International Exhibition
and Convention Centre in Amsterdam.
Parker's adaptation of
"Angela's Ashes," based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Frank
McCourt, starring Emily Watson and Robert Carlyle which was shot
in Ireland last year and will be released in international territories
by UIP.
