The Irish feature film ‘Omagh’ that examines the events and aftermath of the Omagh bombings in 1998 is set for a limited cinematic release following it’s well received broadcast on RTE and Channel 4 last week.
The film is written by Guy Hibbert (May 33rd) and Paul Greengrass (Bloody Sunday), directed by Pete Travis (Henry VIII) and produced by Ed Guiney (The Magdalene Sisters) and Paul Greengrass. Don Mullan (Eyewitness Bloody Sunday) is the co-producer.
The cast was drawn from all parts of Ireland, north and south of the border, and includes Academy Award winner Brenda Fricker and Omagh’s most distinguished actor Gerard McSorley, last seen on screen in Joel Schumacher’s film Veronica Guerin.
The film is distributed by Abbey Films and will be shown in the Screen Cinema in Dublin from 11th June.
