Moro no Brasil

The
Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures 2004 will screen a number of
innovative features and shorts that celebrate world cinematic musical
traditions from a host of international filmmakers.

The festival is due to take place at the end of this month, from the 27 – 29th of August, and has become a favourite with Irish and non-Irish festival goers who delight in the multicultural mix of concerts and events.
The Cinemobile will be located at Carlisle Pier during the festival and screenings include a short film series from Iranian film-maker Abbas Kiarostami. The celebrated master of contemporary film has directed 10 films and won numerous awards including the Palme d'Or du Festival International du Film at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 with his film ‘Ta’M E Guilass.’ The short film series focus on the adventures of Iranian youth and promise to be a treat for film fans.
Other screenings include the Bollywood musical ‘Agni Varsha (Holy Fire)’, the samba treat ‘Moro no Brasil (The Sound of Brazil)’ and the Cuban documentary from Dutch filmmaker Heddy Honigmann ‘Dame la Mano (Give Me Your Hand)’
