Smirsh Films have begun shooting the final scenes of their documentary ‘Trick of the Lights,’ investigating the mystery surrounding “earthlights” around the Mid Norwegian Hessdalen Valley.
These lights have baffled scientist and spectators alike for over two decades. To date the production team have gathered over 30 hours of material in Norway, Bologna (Italy) and Ireland over the past two years. This is their final trip to Norway in search of answers.
The Sligo based company is run by CEO and director Colum Stapleton, with Daniel Blucher and Caroline Clancy producing. In addition the production team includes four Irish astro-physics students from Dublin City University, Trinity College and NUI Galway. In Norway, the crew will liaise with 'Trick of the Lights' Norwegian co-producers Bergen Films.
Together they will attempt to unravel the mystery of the lights and capture some intricate scientific information on these lights using a Spectrometer machine linked to a telescope and various digital cameraware. The research team is led by Dr Massimo Teordorani, an Italian Astro-Physicist from Bologna University who has been leading the investigation. SETI and NASA have both taken part in similar investigations. The 9 day shoot and investigation begins on Tuesday.
