A scene from Capital Letters

With the Galway Film Fleadh opening today, New Decade Film and Television have told IFTN of their delight in premiering Ciaran O'Connor’s debut feature ‘Capital Letters’ at the festival.

The production features an exciting Irish cast that includes Ruth Negga in her debut feature, Karl Shiels, Niall O'Brien, Martin Dunne, Jasmine Russell and Nellie Conroy.
The film tells the story of Taiwo, an illegal immigrant who escapes from her Irish smugglers only to fall into the company of a small time criminal Keely. Director O’Connor is thrilled to feature his film in the fleadh and he says the “controversial story…is based on real life characters and situations. The story magnifies the sacrifices that some people will make for a fresh start and a new beginning.”
Produced by Nuala Cunningham and Linda Cardiff from New Decade, the film was edited by Mairead McIvor and scored by Niall O'Sullivan. Ruairi O'Brien was DOP and Fionan Higgins was in charge of Sound Post. Additional Music provided by Tim Smyth, Kila and Paul Tiernan.
The film will be screened on Friday the 9th of July 2004.
