21 Jun 2004 :

Allesandro Nivola

Producer Jack Armstrong has confirmed actors Colm Meaney and Allesandro Nivola have signed up to feature in the upcoming Irish/American production ‘Turning Green’ scheduled to begin shooting in the Wicklow area next month.

Colm Meaney (Star Trek, Intermission, The Commitments) is one of Ireland’s most successful and well-known actors, he will star with American actor Alessandro Nivola who has featured in ‘Jurrasic Park 3’ and ‘Face Off’ and most recently starred with Robert Redford in ‘The Clearing.’ The cast also includes ‘Father Ted’ favourite Frank Kelly and a host of local Irish actors in supporting roles (TBC).

The film is an irreverent coming of age comedy. Set in 1970’s Ireland, it tells the story of 15 year old James Powers, a young American boy who finds himself lost after his mother dies and he is forced to live with his three Irish aunts. Desperate make some cash to pay for his return to the States, James inadvertently becomes the 15 year old porn king of Ireland!

The low budget production is the first Irish based feature film for New York production company Curbside Pictures who have been producing features since it was established by in 2001. It will be directed by Michael Aimette and John G Hoffman and is produced by Jack Armstrong, Andrew Charas and Rob Malkani.

Principal photography begins on July 4th and crews will be filming in Ardmore Studios, Wicklow Town and Rathdrum over the coming weeks.
