Telegael, the Spiddal based television group has received a 2004 Emmy nomination for their animated television series 'Tutenstein'. The series, a co-production with Porchlight Entertainment (Los Angeles), Nic Entertainment (Korea) and Discovery Kids, is a 26 x half-hour animated series about a ten-year-old boy mummy who is struck by lightning and brought back to life in a modern-day museum in a large metropolitan city. A lot has changed in 3,000 years, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the kid’s attitude: he still thinks he’s Pharaoh!

'Tutenstein' Co-Executive Producer and Telegael CEO, Paul Cummins is very pleased with the nomination. “We are thrilled to receive the Emmy nomination as it is the best possible testimony as to the excellence of our work. I am especially pleased for all the people at our studios in Spiddal who have put a huge effort into this series ”.

'Tutenstein' is currently being aired coast to coast in the US on NBC as part of the Discovery Kids Block on Saturday mornings. Fox Kids Europe has acquired the distribution rights for all of Europe and the series is currently being broadcast in the UK on ITV.

Telegael is responsible for all the post-production on the series, including music composition, foley, sound mixing and picture editing. An Irish language version of the series will also be available. Telegael Producer for the series is Siobhán Ní Ghadhra.

Telegael is currently co-producing several other international animation series including The Island of Inis Cool, Petit Vampire and Four Eyes. The company has also completed negotiations with US studio Mike Young Productions for the co-production of a slate of animation projects over the next three years including the 52 part series Pet Alien which will be co-executive produced by Cummins and former Simpsons and King of the Hill producer Bill Schultz.
