The postgraduate course was developed by SETU Waterford and Nemeton TV in partnership with Udarás naGaeltachta and has been successfully preparing new media talent since 2006. The course is currently accepting applications for the upcoming iteration, which commences again on September 23rd.
This year, the award-winning postgraduate course is offering an exciting new series of workshops: Content Creation for Digital Marketing with an elective focus on Sport. Students will receive expert tuition from practitioners in the industry to help them develop a strategy for marketing the short films, which they produce on the course.
“We pride ourselves as being one of the most industry-focused courses in the media sector and we have gained a high profile in the industry with our excellent ongoing graduate employment record,” says course leader, Dr. Moira Sweeney. “Graduates from the course are coveted as directors, producers, cinemaphotographers and editors, and are enjoying successful careers in top film and television production companies, as well as broadcast stations and streaming platforms at home and abroad.”
A core belief of the course, is the need to remain relevant and dynamic, with its focus always directed at preparing students for work in the contemporary media industries in Ireland and further afield. “As part of this strategy, students undertake a Marketing for Television and Digital Content module where they learn how to develop and budget their idea and then pitch it to a national broadcaster, production company or producer,” Sweeney explains. “We are delighted to add to this module with a new series of workshops and lecturers –Creating Content for Digital Marketing. The students will develop a digital marketing strategy for the short films that they produce on the course. In the ever evolving contemporary digital climate, this will significantly add to the comprehensive toolkit that they enter a competitive industry with.”
Run by top industry professionals, the course features an innovative blend of practical workshops and online classes delivered through block-release. It is uniquely tailored to the needs of students and those who wish to develop their skills while working and featured in the Irish Times Spotlight on Postgraduate Options.
Nemeton TV and SETU have also confirmed that this year the course is offering scholarships for the Higher Diploma in Television and Media Production. This valuable development for the acclaimed post-graduate course means that Scholarships of €3000 for eligible students will cover course fees.

Another appealing element to the course is that a selection of final films produced on the course are broadcast on TG4 each year, with many winning awards at film festivals around Ireland, and featuring prominently at the National Student Media Awards every year. An array of the imaginative short dramas and documentaries are available on the TG4 Player series CÉAD SEANS.
Flexible Course Structure
The award-winning Higher Diploma in Arts in Television and Media Production, developed by SETU Waterford and Nemeton TV in partnership with Udarás na Gaeltachta, has been successfully preparing new media talent since 2006.
