Mary & George is a Sky Studios and Hera Pictures production.
Mary & George is an upcoming period drama with a cast including Julianne Moore (May December, Magnolia), IFTA-winner Niamh Algar (Censor, Calm with Horses), Tony Curran (Doctor Who), and Jacob McCarthy (The Drummer And The Keeper).
Moore will play Mary Villiers, Countess of Buckingham, who in 17th century England molded her beautiful son, George, to seduce King James I and become his all-powerful lover. Through outrageous scheming, the pair rose from humble beginnings to become one of the richest, most titled and influential mother and sons England had ever seen. The series began filming in early 2023.

The cast also includes Nicholas Galitzine (Handsome Devil, Red, White and Royal Blue), Mark O'Halloran (Brassic), Nicola Walker (The Split, Marriage), Adrian Rawlins (Harry Potter), Trine Dyrholm (Queen of Hearts) and Simon Russell Beale (Thor: Love and Thunder).

Based on a true story, the eight-part limited series is adapted by DC Moore (Killing Eve, Temple, Not Safe for Work), from Benjamin Woolley's book The King's Assassin. Oliver Hermanus (Living) will direct the series.

Director Hermanus’ next project is The History of Sound, a period love story starring IFTA Winner Paul Mescal (Aftersun, Normal People) and IFTA nominee Josh O’Connor (Aisha). The film is based on a short story by American author Ben Shattuck, following "two young men, Lionel and David, who, during the WWI period, set out to record the lives, voices and music of their countrymen. In this snatched, short-lived moment in their young lives, and while discovering the epic sweep of the USA, both men are deeply changed".
Mary & George will premiere on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW.
