RTE published their figures from 2020 and 2021
RTÉ has published the fees earned by its Top 10 highest-paid presenters for 2020 and 2021.

This follows the publication by RTÉ in January 2021 of the fees earned by its highest-paid presenters in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The figures from 2021 show that Ryan Tubridy remains the broadcaster’s highest earner with RTÉ paying his company, Tuttle Productions Ltd, €440,000 for his services in 2021. Host of 'The Late Late Show' and RTE Radio 1’s weekday morning programme (9am-10am), the presenter's earnings decreased from €495,000 in 2019 and €466,250 in 2020.

In second place is Joe Duffy who hosts the daily 'Liveline' programme on RTE Radio 1, earning €351,000 through his company Cladaghgreen Ltd.

The highest paid female presenter is Claire Byrne, in third place overall, who earned €350,000 for presenting RTE One's 'Claire Byrne Live' programme on Monday nights and RTE Radio 1's mid-morning show which she took over from Sean O'Rourke in 2020.

Rounding out the top ten list are Ray D'Arcy, Miriam O'Callaghan, Brendan O'Connor, Bryan Dobson, Mary Wilson, Darragh Maloney and George Lee; representing a mix of TV and radio work; light entertainment, sports and journalistic broadcasting.

RTE has said the total fees paid to its highest-paid presenters represent a reduction of more than 15% in both 2020 and 2021.

Speaking about the figures, RTÉ Director-General, Dee Forbes, said:

“Today we are publishing the fees paid to RTÉ's highest-paid presenters for 2020 and 2021, which confirms a total reduction of more than 15%.  Our presenters play an important role in RTÉ's provision of vital news, information and entertainment to audiences right across the country and enable us to generate commercial revenue which is essential to fund RTÉ's public services. We are aware that the fees of high-profile presenters attract considerable public interest. Over the past 15 years RTÉ has reduced these fees by c. 40%. We continue to keep them under review."

The total Top 10 presenter earnings for 2021 represent less than 1% of RTÉ’s total operating costs.
