Amcomri Entertainment Inc has confirmed that it has entered into an agreement with Studio Atlantic to co-finance and produce period thriller The Gates, directed by Stephen Hall and starring John Rhys-Davies, Richard Brake, Elena Delia and Michael Yare.

Filming has commenced in Ireland this month alongside Director of Photography Bruschi Wojnar, with delivery expected in time for Marche du Film, Cannes 2022.

“Amongst our leading actors, The Gates is supported by an all star Irish cast including Peter Coonan, David Pearse, Brian Fortune, Tristan Heanue, Matthew O’Brien & Claire Loy” said producer, Paul Thompstone.

Amcomri Productions Limited, previously Silentpoint Limited, was recently acquired by Amcomri Entertainment and will produce and finance the project with Studio Atlantic.

101 Films International has been appointed as global sales agent for the project.

Set in 1890s London, the film follows William Colcott who has been sentenced to death by Electric Chair. Upon his final hours, Colcott curses the prison he resides in, along with all that dwell within The Gates.

Paul Thompstone is leading the production for Studio Atlantic, along with fellow producers Mike Jones, John Lerchen and accompanied by Garret and Paige Smith of Mad Honey Productions. “The Gates was initially brought to us by writer, Tim Reynolds and producer, Mike Jones back in 2017.  From reading the initial pass of the screenplay, Stephen and I knew that this had to be produced for a global audience to see,” said Thompstone, when speaking about the deal.

“Following years of development along with the grueling decision-making process of who to partner with, it is a truly indescribable feeling to finally witness The Gates coming to life,” Thompstone added. “We would like to thank 101 Films International and Mad Honey Productions for helping us every step of the way.”

Andy Lyon, 101 Films International CEO added: “I would like to thank Paul for allowing us to be involved with this amazing project, From the moment we were pitched the movie we absolutely loved it, it's incredibly commercial and joins a significant slate of other movies we are backing this year.  It's also great to be able to support an Irish production given our recent acquisition of Silentpoint, rebranded Amcomri Productions, as we further increase our global footprint.”
