Hidden Assets
BBC Four has acquired Hidden Assets from DCD Rights, the international crime drama shot in Ireland and Belgium.

Produced by Irish production company Saffron Moon and co-produced by leading Belgian producer Potemkino & Canada’s Facet 4, Hidden Assets previously aired on RTÉ Television last autumn.

Hidden Assets stars Angeline Ball (Keeping Faith, The Commitments), as DS Emer Berry, along with Simone Kirby (His Dark Materials, Jimmy’s Hall) and Peter Coonan (Love/HateCold Courage). Belgian actor Wouter Hendrickx stars as Christian De Jong.

A story about family, power and the corrosive effects of boundless greed, Hidden Assets is set in Co. Clare, small town Ireland and the world’s diamond capital, Antwerp.  A routine raid led by Emer Berry, (Ball) a detective in the Irish Criminal Assets Bureau, reveals that a small-time drug dealer has been receiving substantial funding from a seemingly untraceable source – not in cash, but in rough diamonds.

When these diamonds are linked to a series of bombings in Belgium, Emer is forced to work with Police Commissioner Christian De Jong. Eventually banding together, they unravel a political conspiracy fuelling domestic unrest for financial gain; caught up in this web of greed are the Brannigans, a wealthy Irish dynasty with ties to Antwerp.

Drawn into a battle of wits with the family, Emer, Christian, and the CAB team must follow the money to stop another terrorist attack – before it’s too late.

"Hidden Assets is a satisfying blend of crime drama, political conspiracy and thriller,” said Sue Deeks, Head of Programme Acquisition, BBC. "BBC viewers will be glued to their seats until the very end!”

The taut thriller is directed by Emmy-nominated Thaddeus O’Sullivan (Into The Storm, Silent Witness) and leading Belgian director Kadir Balci (Cold Courage). Hidden Assets is 6 x 52 series produced by Saffron Moon, Facet4Media and Potemkino. written by IFTA-nominated screenwriter Peter McKenna and Morna Regan, who was selected for the first BBC Drama Room in 2016.

The series also featured as an Acorn TV Original on Acorn TV in the United States and on Super Channel in Canada in 2022. DCD Rights has global distribution rights excluding Ireland, Benelux and North America.
