Fastnet Film Festival has launched its In Short series of Mini Tutorials from 24 industry experts who will impart nuggets of information on their area of expertise.
Over five days, ending this Sunday 30th of May, Fastnet Film Festival is stream 350 in-competition short films.
The prize fund is a whopping €40,000, which will be given away at the Award Ceremony on Saturday 29th at 19.00. The winner of the €20,000 Puttnam Award Pitch will be announced online on Friday at 19.00 by host Gerard Stembridge. The winning project will premiere at Schull in 2022.
“With the way things are this year, we are very restricted in what we can include in the Fastnet Film Festival Programme, but have come up with a brilliant new concept,” Hilary McCarthy told IFTN
“Obviously our main focus at FFF is on the Craft of Filmmaking so with that in mind, we commissioned Conor Dowling to produce this series with 24 Industry Experts,” McCarthy continued.
“The idea is that we will have a page with 24 photos with names and areas of expertise. All free to view, you just click on the image and you will be brought to the tutorial. The clips run in length from 2 minutes to 13 minutes and focus on the important issues within that field.”
In synch and in tandem with the Festival’s focus on celebrating the short film, In Short will provide a series of bite-sized tutorials by a wide variety of industry professionals on their particular field of expertise.
Among those imparting useful tips and advice in these mini-tutorials will be Ed Guiney (Producing), Joan Bergin (Costume), Kate McCullough (Cinematography), Mike Ahern (Directing Comedy), Ros & John Hubbard (Casting), Mark O’Halloran (Scriptwriting), Ray Ball (Production Design), Ross Whitaker (Directing Documentary), Cara Holmes (Film Editing), Maurice Seezer (Music), Liz Byrne (Make-Up), Cian McElhone (Legal Issues) – and many more.
