Rosie set for TV premiere on RTÉ One this St. Patrick’s Day
13 Mar 2020 : Nathan Griffin
Sarah Greene and Moe Dunford in Rosie.
Paddy Breathnach’s “enormously powerful and deeply affecting” film Rosie will receive its Irish television premiere this St Patrick’s Day on RTÉ One at 9.30pm.

In Rosie, award-winning Irish novelist Roddy Doyle brings his signature brand of warmth and authenticity to a modern story of a Dublin family who have found themselves with nowhere left to go. Hailed as “the most important Irish film of the year” upon its release to Irish cinemas, Rosie follows a young mother as she searches to find a room for the night for her family - a tense race against time as the hours count down and their options run out.  Set over 36 hours, Rosie tracks a normal family faced with impossible choices and exposes just how easy it is to slip through the cracks.

Directed by Paddy Breathnach (Viva, I Went Down), written by Roddy Doyle (The Commitments, Family) and starring Sarah Greene (Dublin Murders) in the title role, alongside Moe Dunford (Vikings, The Dig) as her partner John Paul, Rosie is a story about love, family and how you protect your children when you have nowhere to call home.

The film premiered at TIFF in September 2018 and was subsequently named as one of The Hollywood Reporter Critics’ 25 favourite films from the Fall festivals.

Rosie is an Element Pictures production made with the support of Screen Ireland, Element Pictures Distribution, BAI, and RTÉ.  The film was produced by Emma Norton, Rory Gilmartin, and Juliette Bonass.   Executive producers were Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures and Dearbhla Regan for Screen Ireland.
