Jessie Buckley
The Irish actress and star of Wild Rose and HBO’s Chernobyl has been cast in the latest instalment of the successful crime anthology.

Buckley joins several high profile names in the new season, includingJack Huston (Kill Your DarlingsBoardwalk Empire), Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore,Moonrise Kingdom), Ben Whishaw (SpectreCloud Atlas), Chris Rock (The Longest YardMadagascar), Jeremie Harris(Legion) and musician Andrew Bird.

Season four takes place in Kansas City in 1950, at the end of two great migrations — that of southern Europeans to the United States and of African Americans moving away from the Jim Crow South. In Kansas City, two crime syndicates — one Italian and one African American — have struck an uneasy peace, and to cement that, the two families have exchanged their youngest sons. When the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for surgery and dies, his rival experiences the inner conflict of raising his enemy's son as his own against an opportunity for expansion.

Originally from Killarney, Co. Kerry, Buckley was first seen in BBC talent show series ‘I’d Do Anything’, a talent show series where actresses competed for a major West End musical role. After coming second in the series she has gone on to appear as Marya Bolkonskaya in the BBC’s dramatisation of War and Peace, before starring opposite Tom Hardy in BBC drama series Taboo.

In 2017, Buckley played the lead in the psychological thriller Beast, which was nominated for Outstanding British Film at the BAFTA 2019 Awards. Buckley herself won the London Critics Circle Film Awards for Best British/Irish Actress of the year for her portrayal of Moll Huntford in the film.

More recently, Buckley has received much acclaim for her performances in both Wild Rose and HBO’s highly acclaimed limited series Chernobyl and secured a nomination for the EE BAFTA Rising Star award at the 2019 BAFTA Film Awards alongside Barry Keoghan.

Season four of Fargo is scheduled to begin production in Autumn in Chicago and air on FX in 2020.
