12 Jul 2019 : Nathan Griffin
John & Ros Hubbard with IFTA Award
Legendary Casting Directors John & Ros Hubbard will take part in a special IFTA In Conversation with Áine Moriarty at the Galway Film Fleadh on Saturday, July 13th.

Taking place directly before the annual IFTA Members’ Lunch in the Veranda Lounge at The Galmont Hotel, the pair will share some fun and engaging insights into their life and career in the film industry.

John and Ros Hubbard are Casting Directors who have worked in casting together for 35 years.  John began his career in advertising in London and came to Dublin to work as a copywriter and TV commercial producer.   Ros began her career in Los Angeles and also worked in New York at J. Walter Thompson in the heady days of 'Mad Men'.  She returned to Dublin and became a partner in a model agency where she met John who was casting models and actors for commercials, which he wrote and produced. They eventually connected in real life too and are now married 50 years and still talking.

As a duo, they became the renowned Hubbard Casting agency, one of the most successful Film and TV commercial Casting Directors in London.

They have worked with a long list of high-profile Film Directors over the years, including Peter Jackson, Paul Greengrass, Ron Howard, Alan Parker and they have cast leading world Actors such as Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Madonna, Matt Damon, Antonia Banderas, Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Richard Dreyfuss, Steve Coogan, Emily Watson, Gabriel Byrne, Colm Meaney to name just a few.

They have also been responsible for discovering extraordinary bright young talents too along the way.

John and Ros now live mostly in Dingle, County Kerry and are just finishing Voice Casting on the first ‘RIVERDANCE’ animated film and ‘CRY FROM THE SEA’ for director Vic Sarin which will be lensed in Ireland.
