Submissions Now Open for the 13th Waterford Film Festival
20 Mar 2019 : News Desk
Waterford Film Festival
The Waterford Film Festival is now accepting submissions for the 13th addition of the festival, which takes place in November.

Last year the festival celebrated a record-breaking amount of submissions for its film and screenplay competition with filmmakers and writers submitting from over 30 countries across the globe.

This year’s festival will run from Friday, November 22ndSunday, November 24th and for the second year in a row, Central Arts will host the Annual 3 day event in their relaxed and intimate screening room.

Since the festival started in 2007, it has screened over 600 films from local, national and international filmmakers. The festival also holds a screenplay competition. The WFF is the first film festival in the Republic of Ireland to hold a short screenplay competition.

The script competition is to encourage and support writers and every year it selects up to 25 finalists and one of the prizes for the overall winner is access to filmmaking equipment and editing facilities with WFF’s partners at FilmLab Waterford.

The festival is a big supporter of independent film as well as films made by first-time writers/producers/directors. Each year the festival screens a mix of professional films, first-time filmmakers and student productions.

Previous festival winners include Oscar-nominated documentary ‘No End in Sight’ and has also screened the work of Irish directors such as Ross Whitaker’s ‘Saviour’ and Conor Horgan’s ‘100 Mornings’.
