'Syria – The Impossible Revolution' Screens at the Manchester Lift-Off Film Festival
19 Mar 2019 : News Desk
Syria – The Impossible Revolution
The award-winning feature documentary was selected for the film festival from over 2,000 global entries.

From Irish filmmakers Anne Daly (project) and Ronan Tynan (project), ‘Syria – The Impossible Revolution’ unravels the complexity of Syria looking at the rise of jihadis, the role of foreign powers and how civilians have been ignored as the country turned into the world’s worst human catastrophe and site of some of the most egregious crimes against humanity of our time.

The documentary was produced by Irish production company Esperanza Productions and has enjoyed success in Ireland, winning the prestigious Radharc Award for documentaries produced for digital media in October. The documentary has since been broadcast on RTÉ One.

Speaking about the project, Director Ronan Tynan told IFTN:

“Unravelling the alleged complexity of the Syrian conflict was our primary aim, and given the reaction, we continue to receive that mission appears to have been accomplished in the eyes of many in different parts of the world. But unless we are moved to raise our voices to defend civilians still under fire or held in brutal torture prisons will anything change?”

The Lift-Off Global Network is a professional showcase offering distribution and the chance to be involved in Lift-Off’s own feature film production work. Lift-Off currently has festivals in Berlin, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Paris, Melbourne, Sydney, London, and Manchester.
James Bradley Co-Director and Co-Founder of Lift-Off said:

Manchester has this creative draw that no other city on the planet seems to get close to. This is why we are ruthless in the films we select; the British audience is a creatively diverse market. Getting into Manchester Lift-Off is an extremely high achievement as we only take the best!

Lift-Off global events aim to give filmmakers the best exposure possible as they embark on their continued artistic journey within the film industry.
