Screen Skills Ireland - Archive Research for TV & Film Documentary

Screen Skills Ireland is seeking participants for its upcoming one-day training course to Archive Research for TV & Film Documentary, which takes place in Dublin on Tuesday, March 5th.

This one-day course will focus on the role of the researcher and the use of archives in the making of television programmes.  The course will primarily introduce participants to the growing diversity of archival resources that can be used in programme-making, but it will also focus on the role of research in the production process and suggest topics and subject-matter that open up to TV researchers and producers with a familiarity with archival collections in Ireland and overseas.

Date: Tuesday, March 5th, 2019

Duration: 1 day

Cost: €100

Key areas to be covered in the course will include:

  • Research for TV & Film: An introductory guide to national and international archives
  • Sources & Uses of film archives
  • Sources & Uses of photographic archives
  • Sources & Uses of paper archives
  • Workshop: Building a TV documentary from archival resources

This course will be delivered by Mark Duncan and Paul Rouse, who bring combined research experience of over 50 years working across the fields of media, education, public policy and cultural heritage.

This one-day course is aimed at television researchers who wish to hone their archive researching skills.
