Jonathan Farrelly Selected as Irish Representative for Euro-Connection 2019
21 Jan 2019 : News Desk
Writer/Producer Jonathan Farrelly
PIO Media’s writer/producer Jonathan Farrelly will represent Ireland in this year’s Euro-Connection at the Clermont Auvergne Festival.

Farrelly will bring his project, ‘Live In Colour’ to the co-production forum where he will join an eclectic mix of producers from all over Europe.

Although ‘Live in Colour’ won the Irish heat, it missed out on the final European shortlist, however the writer/producer has still been invited over as Ireland's representative to seek funding out of competition.

Speaking about the selection, writer/producer Jonathan Farrelly told IFTN:

“Absolutely over the moon to be going over as Ireland’s representative, it's a great honour, especially due to the extremely competitive nature of the Irish heats. There’s so much talent in Ireland at the minute, which makes it all the more special. And it's great for the industry, because it’s forcing us all to up our game! Big things are happening over here at the minute, so long may it continue.”

The forum is designed to foster partnerships between European production companies, funders, broadcasters and emerging filmmakers for short film projects. It will run from February 4th – 9th, including pitching sessions, one-to-one business meetings and facilitated networking for producers and participants.

16 short film projects are chosen each year, with 68 films already completed in the last seven years. A further 32 co-productions have arisen as a direct result of producers networking at the event.

Euro Connection is presented by the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market, in association with the Creative Europe MEDIA Desk France and the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée. Euro Connection is supported by Creative Europe’s MEDIA sub-programme and the PROCIREP.
