Sharon Horgan's HBO Series 'Divorce' Starring Sarah Jessica Parker Renewed for Third Season
05 Nov 2018 : Nathan Griffin
HBO has confirmed that ‘Divorce’ will return for a third season after giving a six-part series order to Sharon Horgan’s hit US comedy.

The decision to renew the show, which stars Thomas Haden Church & Sarah Jessica Parker, comes eight months after the season finale aired on the premium cable network. However, HBO’s Casey Bloys explained to Deadline during the summer that the third season was in development with new showrunner Liz Tuccillo hosting a writing room to explore new avenues for the show.

HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys told Deadline:

“We have a writers room going, scripts are being written, if they are in good shape, we will move forward, but Sarah Jessica and everybody wanted to feel good about where we are going.”

Season 2 of ‘Divorce’ saw Frances (Parker) and her ex-husband, Robert (Church), dealing with the aftermath of their explosive separation and learning to rebuild their lives.

The show co-stars Talia Balsam, Tracy Letts, Molly Shannon, Sterling Jerins, Charlie Kilgore and Becki Newton. It is executive produced by Horgan, Parker, Alison Benson and Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment.

Horgan is currently involved in a number of different projects, including 'Women on The Verge', 'Happy AF', and an untitled comedy series from Amazon. Horgan is also working on the new series of 'Catastrophe' at present, for which she has won five IFTA Television Awards for writing and acting.

Production for Season 3 of ‘Divorce’ is set to begin in early 2019.
