Channel 5 Exec Sean Doyle Joins Channel 4
12 Sep 2018 : Nathan Griffin
British broadcaster Channel 4 has acquired the services of Channel 5ís non-scripted commissioner Sean Doyle to head the new slate of 8pm programmes.

Having worked as a commissioning executive at Channel 5 since 2015, Doyle has been credited with commissioning some of the Viacom-owned broadcaster’s most successful shows. This includes the idea to bring back reality formats ‘The Bachelor’ and the new revamped ‘Blind Date’, which in turn helped Channel 5 take major strides into the entertainment genre.

Channel 4’s Director of Programming, Ian Katz welcomed the appointment, saying:

“Delighted that the fantastic Sean Doyle, the brains behind many of Channel 5’s smartest commissions, is joining us as Deputy Head of our Features and Formats department. Can’t wait to see what he does to 8 o’clock”

Doyle was also responsible for commissioning C5 originals such as the social experiment show ‘Celebs in Solitary’, which was produced by Stellify Media, and the nature series ‘Wild Britain’, produced by Plimsoll Productions.

Doyle will join the Channel 4 team as Deputy Head of Features and Formats, reporting to Sarah Lazenby, Head of Features and Formats, who assumed her role earlier this summer. Sean also has two years experience working with the BBC and has held a number of positions with production companies, including Head of Development for Wild Rover Production who were responsible for ABC’s ‘Take the Money and Run’.
