Irish Film London Expands Board with Appointment of Claire Turvey
05 Jun 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Irish Film London, the not for profit organisation that champions the Irish film and animation industries in the UK, has expanded its Board to five with the appointment of Public Relations consultant Claire Turvey.

The organisation, which is holding its eighth Irish Film Festival in London from 21-25 November 2018 and now also runs a second annual festival in March, is also currently looking for a sponsorship specialist to join the Board as its programme and remit continues to grow.

Claire Turvey is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and specialises in providing strategic communications advice to listed and non-listed corporates, including FTSE100s and global investment and asset managers. She has more than 15 years of communications experience, including more than 10 years in agency PR in both London and Dublin with FTI, Powerscourt and Pembroke Communications (now Teneo PSG), during which time her work with Irish and global clients has been recognised with six awards and commendations. >From 2005-2008, Claire worked with the Irish Government in the office of Minister Seán Haughey, T.D. and prior to that she was a journalist and producer with The Times, the BBC and Sky TV.

Claire has an M.A. in History from Trinity College, Dublin graduating with First Class Honours in 2004 and was also awarded the Thomas William Lyster prize for History by the University.

Kelly OConnor, Founder and Programming Director at Irish Film London said:

Since our inception in 2011 we have delivered some incredible events and made fantastic strides in supporting the Irish film industry - in all its guises in the UK. As we move towards our tenth anniversary we have big ambitions to grow this organisation even further and with Claire on board well be in a stronger position to do just that. Claire will help us to raise our profile among the UK community, to attract bigger audiences and build the UKs engagement with the incredible output that Ireland is producing right now.

Claire Turvey added:

There is an immense amount of talent in Irish film, which is enjoying the greatest success in its history, but there is much more to achieve. The UK is an important platform to enable Irelands talent to be recognised and to reach its potential, and hopefully in this new role I can contribute to that, building on what Kelly and the team have already achieved in the last eight years.”

Irish Film London is currently seeking expressions of interest from individuals who can bring corporate sponsorship expertise to the board and who can also contribute to the organisation’s overall strategic objectives.
