Liam Neeson Looks Set to Join Chris Hemsworth & Tessa Thompson on ‘Men In Black’ Spin-Off
23 May 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Liam Neeson looks set to join the upcoming Sony Pictures reboot of the ‘Men In Black’ franchise, which will see Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson hop into the coveted MIB suits.

The spin-off, which is being written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (‘Iron Man’ Franchise), has announced a May 17th, 2019 release date for the film. The film is being produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, with Steven Spielberg executive producing and David Beaubaire overseeing on behalf of Sony. Variety has also reported that ‘Straight Outta Compton’ director F. Gary Gray has signed on to shoot the project.

Sony & Amblin who recently enjoyed major success with the reboot of the ‘Jumanji’ franchise, were said to have strongly considered melding the ‘21 Jump Street’ cast of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill into the extraterrestrial spinoff but fans of the successful cop comedy will have to wait and see if that ever materialises.

The original movie followed Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, who played agents of a secret organization known as the Men in Black and protected Earth from intergalactic bad guys. The first film was huge hit in 1997 and produced two more sequels.

Neeson is expected to head up the London branch of the MIB, similar to Rip Torn’s role in the original franchise which saw him as head of the American Division.

Neeson can next be seen in Steve McQueen’s ‘Widows’, which stars Colin Farrell, Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya, and Elizabeth Debicki, is expected out in November 2018.
