‘Dark Lies the Island’ Secures International Sales Deal with Independent Film Company
08 Nov 2017 : Nathan Griffin
Following the wrap on Irish black comedy ‘Dark Lies the Island’, British-based sales agent Independent Film Company have confirmed that they have secured an international sales deal for the project.

The film is directed by Ian Fitzgibbon, written by Kevin Barry and based on characters he created for his own short story collection, ‘Dark Lies the Island’ follows the characters in a long-standing family feud in a small Irish town over the course of a week.

The deal will provide the feature with distribution opportunities worldwide and has been positively supported by IFC’s Managing Director, Andrew Orr who said:

“This is superb pitch-black comedy writing combined with a hugely respected director and the best Irish ensemble cast in recent film history, and will be up there with the dark Irish comedies that audiences around the world have come to love.”

Michael Garland of Grand Pictures produced, Cathal Watters (Viva) is DOP; Stephen O'Connell is editor; Leonie Prendergast is Costume Designer, and Jeffrey Sheriff is Production Designer.

The ensemble cast includes Peter Coonan (Penance), Moe Dunford (Handsome Devil), Charlie Murphy (Philomena), Pat Shortt (Garage), Tommy Tiernan (Derry Girls) and newcomer Jana Mohieden.

‘Dark Lies the Island’ will be ready for theatrical release in 2018.
