Nemeton TV Shines Light on Selected Waterford IT Graduates with TG4 Broadcast
06 Nov 2017 :
Nemeton TV and TG4 have partnered up to give a selection of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) students their television debut on TG4.

Below is some information about the selected student's projects:

Sarah McCoy’s film 'Is Cuimhin Liom' / 'I Remember'

Is a touching, intimate and surprisingly humorous portrait of Gerald Linehan as he and his family come to terms with his Alzheimers. Gerard’s family live in Ballincollig although he originally hails from Listowel in Kerry. A great character with many stories and songs, Gerard was a famous boxer and footballer in his day and a great friend of John B Keane, whose son is featured in the film. His son Donal is one of Irelands most well-known rugby commentators and journalists. The film also features Gerald’s wife and daughter as they recount humorous incidents from their lives together and deal with the sadness of his recent loss of his short-term memory.

Fiona Griffin and Ryan O Dwyer's film 'An t-Athair Ó Fiannachta'

Multi-talented filmmaker Fiona Griffin directed a deeply moving documentary about Dingle’s well-loved priest and scholar An t-Athair Ó Fiannachta who passed away in 2016. The film features interviews with good friends such as Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh and the American artist Eleonar Yates who Padraig commissioned to paint the stunning murals in the Diseart in Dingle. The film traces Padraig O Fiannachta’s early painful years through to his love of language, which he nurtured in Maynooth.

Deirdre Orme and Pat Phelan’s film 'Jim of the Mill'

The Jim of the Mill pub is situated in Upperchurch near Thurles and is run by farming family Jim and Kae Ryan. They open their home with its flag-stoned kitchen, parlour, and bar to the public once a week. Locals and many more from further afield fill the idyllic rural house for a mighty musical session each Thursday evening. In the film, Pat and Deirdre capture the essence and craic of these unique music sessions with lively interviews from Jim, his talented musical daughters, and locals.

Turas an Dreóilín is a warm observational documentary in which the filmmaker Donie Nolan captures the unique tradition of the Carrigkerry Wren Boys in his native West Limerick over Christmas 2016.

In 'Ó Lads go Fir'filmmaker and hurler Cian O Halloran traces the lead up to the Waterford Under 21 Hurling team’s 2016 All Ireland win, which ended 24 years of heartache.
