Tyrell Attending IBC in Amsterdam
07 Sep 2017 :
Tyrell has published a handy form on their website if attendees are interested in meeting them at the event.

We asked the Tyrell crew attending this year’s IBC these three essential questions…

1. Why are you visiting IBC?
2. What are you looking forward to seeing?
3. What’s your favorite thing about Amsterdam?

Attending the event will be Bryan Malone (MD), Dan Muchmore (Sales Director), Declan Hogan (Group Technical Director), and Adam Lewiston (Pre-Sales & Support Manager).

1. Why are you visiting IBC?
Travelling to IBC every year is an essential part of the Tyrell calendar, aside from the annual aspiration of always wanting to exhibit at Europe’s largest TV expo with over 50,000 customers, we’re really there to re-connect with both suppliers and customers.

2. What are you looking forward to seeing?
We’re really interested in exploring which vendors are embracing Remote Collaboration, from connected cameras with remote production centres to remote ingest with automated asset tagging and captioning is really interesting.

3. What’s your favorite thing about Amsterdam?
A couple of my favorite things about Amsterdam , is that Uber works in the city, as do the trams and cycle lanes and sure you can always get lost for a couple of hours blaming that one canal looks the same as the other.

1. Why are you visiting IBC?
This is the only time in the year where we allow ourselves uninterrupted focused time looking ahead at where the market is heading. Something in my day-to-day schedule which is near to impossible. IBC for me guides me on my next year to where Tyrell should be focusing its efforts in the next year. I constantly like to challenge our team on product lines, where do we have holes in our solution portfolio and then use the show to identify future technologies or brands that would further add value to Tyrell’s commentary about the M&E world. Equally important to finding new technologies is spending time with our existing manufacturers ensuring we fully understand their direction and can translate to current and future projects. We recently became the first reseller in the UK & IE for the Avid Graphics and replay range of products and so ensuring we have a clear strategy around this for 2018 is a key goal.

2. What are you looking forward to seeing?
We took on a new brand Intinor this year so I am looking forward to seeing what they have coming and looking for supporting technologies to secure our signal contribution and distribution solutions . My head’s in The Cloud. What it means for Tyrell as a reseller, what it means for our customers both the technical and cost arguments. The subject is very much here but how to best utilise it is still unanswered amongst many that I talk to and this is true for both manufacturers and customers alike. Clear-Com is an essential brand for Tyrell and I am getting the feeling from them that they have some very exciting technologies coming. Lastly, I feel that we need to complete our production package for the Sports, Corporate and Tier 3 Broadcast Live-Streaming markets so there will be a number of product lines I will be looking out for to complete what is a fast emerging market for Tyrell.

3. What’s your favourite thing about Amsterdam?
I love being near water, it’s good for my soul. Once out of the immediate centre of Amsterdam you can really appreciate its relaxed environment, no one does water and tree lined streets/canals like the Dutch.

1. Why are you visiting IBC?
To gaze into the future, and see where the industry is going – not where it is today but where it will be 5 or 10 years from now.

2. What are you looking forward to seeing?
Concepts are what interest me most and how we can solve problems, this time at IBC I will be researching how people are coping with true Remote Editing and the business trajectory of NDI (Network Digital Interface).

3. What’s your favorite thing about Amsterdam?
Meeting like-minded people, both suppliers and customers. Our industry is a great community of explorers and talkers and these are the people I’ve grown up with!

1. Why are you visiting IBC?
IBC is the largest European show for the broadcast industry. It’s important for the Tyrellteam to attend the show to find out the latest features for existing products and also to find out about innovations that will be hitting the industry over the coming months and years. By attending we extend our knowledge internally and are able to educate our end users so that they can produce more efficient workflows bringing higher production values.

2. What are you looking forward to seeing?
It’s the little innovations that solve problems that you find by chance that I always look forward too.  Until I find them I don’t know what these will be, however I am looking forwards to visiting the Avid stand as I didn’t make it over to NAB, and it will be my first chance to see the Virtualisations and Cloud Solutions that I have heard so much about. It will also be great to see the Clear-Com team as well as some of our new product teams such as  eMAM and Intinor.

3. What’s your favourite thing about Amsterdam?
Amsterdam is one of the cities I have visited most, after Dublin of course, however as the visits are always IBC related I am ashamed to say I have never really explored the city. I always like an early morning walk or run along the canals to blow out the cob webs from the night before!!
