'The Killing of a Sacred Deer' to have US Premiere at Fantastic Fest
09 Aug 2017 : Katie McNeice
The title which earned Yorgos Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou the award for Best Screenplay at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival is set to screen for the first time to a US audience.

Fantastic Fest is one of the largest genre festivals running in the States, with September 21st-28th confirmed as 2017 dates.

The first wave of programming for the festival has revealed ‘The Killing of the a Sacred Deer’ is set to screen alongside the likes of S. Craig Zahler’s ‘Brawl in Cell Block 99’, ‘three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ from Martin McDonagh and the US premiere of Netflix’s Stephen King adaptation,‘Gerald’s Game’ (Mike Flanagan).

Tim League, Festival Founder: “I’m proud to say that this is truly lucky thirteen for us. We have another ferocious slate celebrating new and returning filmmakers from all over the world. It’s again an honor and privilege to welcome them and their brilliant, brave work.”

‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ starring Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman is a breakout project for Barry Keoghan (Light Thereafter), who portrays Martin, a troubled teen whose obsessive relationship with a brilliant surgeon (Farrell) has devastating consequences.

The project is produced by Lanthimos, alongside Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures.
