Hit TV comedy Damo & Ivor set for the big screen in 2018
20 Jul 2017 :
The massively popular Irish comedy show Damo & Ivor is to be made into a feature film with production set to start this summer. Wildcard Distribution will bring the comedy to Irish cinemas next year.

Andy Quirke will reprise his roles as both Damo and Ivor while Ronan and Rob Burke, who directed the second series of Damo & Ivor, are on board to direct the feature.

Speaking about the feature film, directors Ronan and Rob Burke said: “We are beyond excited to be directing Damo & Ivor The Movie. It is a hilarious script that brings these characters to the big screen in a big way. The fans will not be disappointed, it's gonna be whopper!”

Meanwhile writer/creator/lead actor Andy Quirke added: “With a fan base as big as this I really feel it will break some records! I can’t wait for the fans to come on this next part of the journey.”

Damo & Ivor is the satirical comedy, which first appeared on YouTube and RTE’s Republic of Telly back in 2011, about the lives of identical twin brothers separated not long after birth. One of the boys, Damo, is left to grow up on the mean streets of Dublin to be raised by his maternal Grandmother, Grano, while the other, Ivor, is given a life of wealth and luxury in Dublin's affluent Foxrock by parents who shower their son with money and little else.

In the feature film Damo and Ivor embark on the mother of all adventures to find the last piece of their family puzzle and track down their long lost brother John Joe. The adventure takes the brothers across Ireland where they discover that sometimes you can’t judge a book by its cover.

The comedy duo have a huge online following and have achieved over 8 million views on YouTube, two hit TV series on RTE Two, four top 10 singles including ‘Everybody’s Drinkin’’ and ‘Big Box Little Box’ and a top 10 album also.

The film is a co-production between Parallel Films and Blue Ink Films and is being produced by Ruth Carter and Andy Quirke with Alan Moloney as executive producer. The film is being supported by the Irish Film Board, RTÉ and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

Damo & Ivor The Movie will be released in Irish cinemas in 2018.
