Mackenzie Davis to star in ‘Vivarium’, the Second Feature from Irish Talent Lorcan Finnegan

Mackenzie Davis, Black Mirror S03 E04, 'San Junipero'
The helmer of ‘Without Name’ will direct the ‘Blade Runner 2049’ actress in his latest project, a sci-fi thriller written by collaborator Garret Shanley (Without Name, Foxes).

XYZ Films are executive producers and also handling global sales in Cannes this week to the title, which is produced by Brendan McCarthy and John McDonnell of Fantastic Films and Frakas Productions in Belgium.

The two production companies recently co-produced Jaume Balagueró’s ‘Muse’, also screening at Cannes.

Finnegan’s favouring of tense and psychological themes in ‘Without Name’ and IFTA-winning short ‘Foxes’ looks set to continue with ‘Vivarium’, which will see Davis lead as an engaged young woman looking for the perfect starter home with her fiancé.

After following a mysterious real estate agent to a new housing development, the couple finds themselves trapped in a maze of identical houses and forced to raise an otherworldly child.

In a recent interview with IFTN, Finnegan notes he has been developing the project with the Irish Film Board and Film4 for the last four years.

Additional upcoming projects for the director and screenwriter Shanley are ‘Goliath’ and ‘Nocebo’, an upcoming collaboration with ‘Under the Shadow’ producers Wigwam Films.

'Without Name' released to Irish cinemas on Friday, May 5th and is distributed by Element Pictures Distribution.
