Irish Talent Longlisted for the TV Choice Awards

BBC's 'The Fall' starring Jamie Dornan is up for Best Drama Series
Voting for the TV Choice Awards has opened this week with the first round of voting ending on June 2, before voting on the official shortlist goes live on June 27.

This year’s TVChoice Awards will take place on Monday, September 4 at The Dorchester on Park Lane in London.

Some of the Irish talent and shows nominated across the categories this year include; ITV's Poldark starring Aidan Turner which is nominated for Best Drama Series alongside, BBC's The Fall featuring Jamie Dornan (Siege of Jadotville), and Line of Duty also filmed in Belfast made the longlist and so did the BBC's Carribean drama Death In Paradise, which features Father Ted and Handsome Devil actor Ardal O'Hanlon who made his debut in the series in February of this year as DI Jack Mooney.

The Moonstone from Irish Director Lisa Mulcahy (Legend of Longwood), is nominated for Best Family Drama. The five-part drama which aired on BBC One is adapted from the Wilkie Collins detective novel of the same name. Another BBC drama Father Brown which Irish Director Simon Gibney (Horrible Histories) has worked on is also nominated in the same category.

Up for Best New Drama Series is Netflix original The Crown, Irish editor Úna Ní Dhonghaíle has worked on the show and was earlier this year IFTA nominated. New Kat & Alfie EastEnders spinoff drama Redwater filmed in Dunmore East, County Waterford and starring an all-Irish cast is also nominated alongside Sky Atlantic's Guerrilla which stars Irish OA actor and this year's IFTA Rising Star winner Patrick Gibson.

Best Entertainment Show see's The Graham Norton Show nominated on the list alongside the RTÉ and BBC Saturday night co-production 'All Round to Mrs Brown's' from Irish comedian and creator Brendan O'Carroll. Irish presenters Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon's returning series of Robot Wars is also listed.
