Meet the Mobile Content Creators is a free event being run by Gréasán na Meán Skillnet on Thursday 4th May at 7.30pm at the Mick Lally Theatre in Galway, as part of MojoCon 2017.
The best of mobile media MojoCon 2017 travels to the west of Ireland and Gréasán na Meán Skillnet are excited to announce they will be holding the special event with guest speakers including video journalist Mark Egan, Snapchat and social media presenter Eva Schulz, BBC Academy’s Marc Settle and experienced Mojo Sumaiya Seedat.

Mark Egan
Mark is an experienced media professional with expertise in training and new ways of working both in television and multi-media environments. He worked as a Video Journalist with BBC for over 14 years during which time he became one of the earliest internal video journalism trainers with BBC College of Journalism. He left BBC in 2009 to set up his own training and Consultancy Company called Purple Bridge media.
Mark now specialises in Video and Mobile Journalism Training and Video Marketing. He frequently delivers mobile journalism training courses with his brother Philipfor Eurovision. He is also a member of Eurovision Academy Faculty.
Eva Schulz
Eva is a freelance journalist and presenter. She loves to experiment with apps and social media to find out how to tell stories on Twitter, Snapchat and the like. Currently she works as a reporter for the Snapchat news channel “Hochkant” (Funk) where she presents the daily news to a millenial audience.
Eva has written columns for “Jetzt.de” and “Zeit Campus”, was part of the development team of the first German issue of “Wired” and worked as a reporter for the young TV show “Klub Konkret” (EinsPlus / ARD). As a Trialogue of Cultures Fellow, she spent half a year in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. In 2009, she was listed as the youngest of the top 30 journalists under the age of 30 by “Medium Magazin”.
Eva studied Communication, Cultural Studies and Economics at Zeppelin University and wrote her thesis about obstacles to innovation within German public broadcasting stations (tl; dr: it’s a mess.). After a media fellowship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, she pursued a Masters in Urban Studies and travelled across Europe for two semesters.
Marc Settle
Marc is a BBC journalist and media trainer who specialises in mobile journalism training for the BBC Academy He is a walking font of knowledge in all things related to smartphone journalism, photography and filming. He is frequently to be seen “buried” in his smartphone and is very active on Twitter where he frequently shares his knowledge and insights.
Sumaiya Seedat
Sumaiya says “I’m a banker. Not a journalist, blogger and definitely not a videographer. But
I married a MoJo.It takes two to Mojo. From my marriage proposal being filmed with a GoPro strapped to his head, to me shooting Tsunami stories in Sri Lanka on our honeymoon, I’ve been behind the mobile camera through it all.
“I’m the MoJo behind the MoJo. keeping my ear to the social media ground for the latest Mannequin Challenge, Ice Bucket Challenge or learning how the Kardashians conquered social media. Pop culture and viral video stars can be far from a journalist’s echo chamber. Most of what I consume isn’t part of Overton’s Window of news. MoJo enabled a new generation of fashion bloggers, foodies and influencers into the video space, who developed new styles of mobile content. Inspired by all these viral movements, I help the MOJO tell news with the viral tricks of an influencer.”
