‘The OA’ star Patrick Gibson takes leading role in ‘The Darkest Minds’
2017-03-15 9:00:00 : Katie McNeice
The Irish actor who is currently filming John Ridley series ‘Guerilla’ is set to take the role of Clancy Grey in the upcoming Fox adaptation.

Harris Dickinson (Home), Miya Cech (American Horror Story) and Skylan Brooks (Southpaw) are also confirmed as key cast members.

‘The Darkest Minds’ will mark a live-action directing debut for Oscar-nominated Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 2), who will bring Chad Hodge’s adaptation of Alexandra Bracken’s trilogy to the small screen.

Dan Levine (Arrival) and Shawn Levy (Real Steal) will produce, with Dan Cohen (The Spectacular Now) also on board as executive producer.

Gibson is set to play the narcissistic president’s son, in a world where 98% of American children and teenagers have been killed by a disease, and the survivors are forced into rehabilitation camps by the government who fear their new-found psychic abilities.

He recently rose to international attention as Steve Winchell in the breakout Netflix series ‘The OA’ from Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, having previously starred in projects such as ‘Their Finest’ (Lone Scherfig) ‘Property of the State’ (Kit Ryan) and What Richard Did’ (Lenny Abrahamson)

We interviewed the actor earlier this year on his role in ‘The OA’, which has been renewed for a second season.
