UK & Irish Rights to ‘The Journey’ starring Colm Meaney & Timothy Spall acquired by The Swen Group
03 Mar 2017 : Katie McNeice
Nick Hamm’s drama set in the world of The Troubles in Northern Ireland explores the relationship between opposing political leaders, Sinn Fein’s Martin McGuinness (Meaney) and Unionist leader Ian Paisley (Spall).

The deal between Murray Lipnik of The Swen Group and Michael Rothstein on behalf of IM Global, marks the first UK release for the distributor, on which is will partner with Shear Entertainment for a late Jun 2017 release.

‘The Journey’ is written by Colin Bateman and details a fictional meeting between Paisley and McGuinness in which they travel together to avoid a terrorist attack from members of opposing parties. Nick Hamm, Piers Tempest and Mark Huffam produce.

The title also features Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel), Barry Ward (Jimmy’s Hall), Toby Stephens (13 Hours) and the late John Hurt (Jackie).

Murray Lipnik, The Swen Group:
“We are very excited to continue our international expansion into the UK following our recent announcement of a slate of US theatrical releases including the critically acclaimed Una. The Journey is an entertaining yet important film, and the perfect fit for our first UK release.”
