The upcoming festival which runs from April 19th-30th will open with documentary title ‘Soundtrack of Our Lives’ from Clive Davis, with Irish documentary and drama also set to take centre stage in the Viewpoints and Spotlight Documentary streams.

Epic drama ‘Pilgrimage’ from  Brendan Muldowney shares its place in the Viewpoints stream with Emery Reynolds’ feature documentary ‘The Farthest’.

The ‘Pilgrimage’ team recently announced a major seven-figure distribution deal between XYZ Films, WME Global and RLJ Entertainment. The project filmed in counties Mayo and Galway in addition to the Ardennes in Belgium.

It is produced by Conor Barry and John Keville of Savage Productions producing and XYZ as Executive Producers. Muldowney directs Jamie Hannigan’s script with a cast which includes Tom Holland (The Lost City of Z), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) and Richard Armitage (Brain on Fire).

‘Pilgrimage’ is set in 13th century Ireland and follows a group of monks as they take their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome amidst tribal war and pagan superstition.

‘The Farthest’ examines the NASA Voyager Mission on its 40th anniversary, with the ‘Patrick’s Day’ editor writing and directing the project. The nuclear-powered Voyager 1 and Voyager 2  have travelled over 22M miles combined since leaving earth. The Farthest’ is a Crossing The Line film presented by HHMI Tangled Bank Studios in association with The Irish Film Board, ZDF/ARTE and the BBC, and is also funded by RTÉ. Producers are John Murray and Clare Stronge of Crossing the Line.

In the Spotlight Documentary stream, ‘No Stone Unturned’ from NI director Alex Gibney explores the massacre of six innocent people in a small village pub in Northern Ireland, on the day Ireland were victorious over Italy in the 1994 world cup. The project is produced by Trevor Birney and is an Irish/US co-production between Fine Point Films and Jigsaw Productions.

Birney is also executive producer on the final Irish project ‘Elián,’ which Gibney in turn produces. Tim Golden and Ross McDonnell direct this insightful documentary in to the finding of Cuban boy Elián González who was found floating through the Florida Straits on Thanksgiving Day, 1999. With access to key players in the saga, it offers political and personal commentary on the bitter custody battle between the boy’s father and US relatives.
