The National Film School at the Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) announces the closing date for applications to its new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master of Art in Cinematography is 19th February 2017.
The MA is called Viewfinder and brings together three established film schools to offer a joint practice-based programme delivered over two years in three cities.
The partners are the National Film School at IADT in Dun Laoghaire, The University of Theatre and Film Arts, Budapest, Hungary (SZFE) and the Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School of Tallinn University, Estonia, (BFM).
A maximum of twenty-four students from all around the world will study in Dublin for the first semester, in Budapest for the second semester and in Tallinn for the third semester. In the fourth semester the students will be divided equally across the three schools. Viewfinder will shoot on digital equipment to professional industry standards.
The course prepares the students to work as Directors of Photography and Camera Operators. Graduates can expect to find work in all branches of filmmaking such as TV Drama, Feature Film, Documentary, Music Video, Commercials etc.
Viewfinder seeks applicants who are already experienced in film production as either as a cinematographer, camera operator, camera assistant or a stills photographer etc. and who are well versed in set procedures and the collaborative nature of filmmaking. The course aims to offer the applicant an opportunity to further their personal development as a cinematographer as part of an international class but without the pressure of shooting to a production deadline. It is an artistic learning journey, allowing time to re-examine, redefine and enhance one's practice of cinematography.

Viewfinder Master Course is sponsored and supervised by the EACEA - Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission. It is an Erasmus Mundus Program and offers two-year scholarships to some of the selected European and non-European students.
