‘Tomato Red’ from Juanita Wilson to release to Irish Cinemas March 3rd
16 Jan 2017 : Katie McNeice
Wilson penned the screenplay based on the original work by novelist Daniel Woodrell, which comes to Irish screens from Element Pictures Distribution.

Sammy Barlach (Jake Weary) stars as Sammy Barlach, small-town drifter in search of his next is next cold beer and a bunch that'll have him.

Red-head Jamalee Merridew is portrayed by Julia Garner (Everything Beautiful Is Far Away) who dreams of making a fortune from her brother’s movie star good looks.

The narrative sees Sammy’s new life torn apart by a sudden violent incident and puts them both on the path of justice and revenge, ultimately finding themselves powerless against corruption and prejudice.

The project showcases the work of ‘Glassland’ Cinematographer Piers McGrail, who interviewed with IFTN last year, with editing from Nathan Nugent (Room).

‘Tomato Red’ also features stars Anna Friel (I.T.) and Nick Roux (The Reunion) and is produced by James Flynn of Octagon Films.
