Ruth Negga nominated for EE Rising Star Award 2017

The Irish actress who stars in the much-awaited ‘Loving’ releasing to Irish cinemas on February 3rd, is named alongside Laia Costa, Lucas Hedges, Tom Holland and Anya Taylor-Jay as the EE Rising Star Nominees at the upcoming BAFTA Awards.

The remaining BAFTA 2017 Nominees will be officially announced next Tuesday, with the awards ceremony taking place on Sunday, February 12th.

Voting on the winner of the Rising Star award will continue until Thursday, February 2nd.

Negga was honoured with the Palm Spring Rising Star award, with Festival Chairman Harold stating, “Ruth Negga’s performance as Mildred Loving is one of the year’s most luminous and striking portrayals… This will certainly be just one of many breath-taking performances in a long career.”

The IFTA Winner of the award for Best Actress in 2012 for ‘Shirley’ has also starred in ‘Preacher’ and ‘Warcraft: The Beginning’ in 2016, with previous titles including ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘World War Z’ and Irish drama series ‘Love/Hate’.
