'Crash and Burn'
Seán Ó Cualáin's sports biography ‘Crash and Burn’ leads the titles hitting Irish screens from today, Friday December 2nd.

Interestingly the title is one of three major releases in Ireland this weekend with biographical content, with feature films ‘Bleed for This’ and ‘Sully’ each based on the lives of public figures.

The project examines the rise of charismatic Formula 1 driver Tommy Byrne, hailing from Dundalk, whose progression to professional racing took little over four years. The project premiered at the prestigious Sheffield Doc/Fest in June of this year and features interviews from Eddie Jordan, amongst others.

‘Crash and Burn’ is distributed in Ireland by Wildcard Distribution.

Bleed for This
Ben Younger (Prime) directs dramatic feature investigating the life of Vinny Pazienza, a World Champion Boxer whose comeback to sport after a near fatal car crash defied all the odds. Irish talent Ciarán Hinds also features in a supporting role as gym-owner Angelo Paz.

‘Bleed for This’ is distributed in Ireland by Icon Film Distribution.

Sully: Miracle on the Hudson
Tom Hanks stars as Chesley Sullenberger in Clint Eastwood’s latest feature, which dramatises the emergency landing performed by the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River, Manhattan in 2009.

‘Sully: Miracle on the Hudson’ is distributed in Ireland by Warner Brothers.

The Unknown Girl
Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne co-direct this French-language thriller exploring a doctor’s attempts to uncover the identity of a deceased patient who had refused treatment.

‘The Unknown Girl’ is distributed in Ireland by Curzon.

Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism
A family drama directed by Christopher N. Rowley (Bonneville) focusing on orphan Molly Moon, who uses her hypnotic abilities to fend off a bank robber trying to steal a book on the art form. ‘Allied’ actress Raffey Cassidy takes the lead role as Molly.

‘Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism’ is distributed in Ireland by Lionsgate.
