The home-grown documentaries created as part of the Science on Screen initiative are set in the world of medical device research in CÚRAM and will screen at 14:30 on Thursday, December 8th.
‘Feats of Modest Valour’ and ‘Mending Legends’ premiered earlier this month at An Taibhdhearc as part of SFI’s National Science Week and the Galway Science and Technology Festival.
The former title is co-directed and co-produced by Mia Mullarkey and Alice McDowell of Ishka Films, and presents a touching portrayal of three people living with Parkinson's Disease.
'Mending Legends' is directed by Paul Webster and produced by James Ryan of StationHouse Media, and looks at the devastating effects of tendon injury on sports people and the team of scientists who are working to form the world’s first 3D cell assembled tendon prototype.
This free event will also screen the 2015 and 2016 primary school winners of the ReelLife SCIENCE Schools Video Competition. These are ‘Life in Space’ from Gaelscoil Riabhach, Co. Galway and ‘Scoil Aonghusa Rocket Launch’ from Scoil Aonghusa Senior, Co. Dublin.
