Roma Downey to Launch Faith Digital Network on Fox with Mark Burnett and MGM
17 Nov 2016 :
Roma Downey to Launch a Faith Digital Network on Fox. The new channel will be called ‘Light TV’ and will launch in December.

Roma Downey, the Irish woman born in Derry and recently honoured in Ireland by the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) and the Irish Government for her achievements within the international TV industry, is set to launch Light TV, a new faith and family digital entertainment network this December across America.

Downey, who is based in Los Angeles, will team up with MGM alongside her business partner and husband Mark Burnett, who is president of television at MGM.  The new channel will kick-start in partnership with Fox stations and affiliates across a wide range of top US markets including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, Orlando among others.

The Channel is being pitched as being the first-ever 24-hour, seven-day-a-week network, and it will include a whole catalogue of family friendly MGM films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Pink Panther, Fame, Rocky, Hoosiers, Red River, Little Man Tate, The Nutcracker, Mr. Mom, as well as TV series like Highway to Heaven, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and Heartland.

This is the latest faith-based offering from Downey and Burnett, who were also exec producers on The Bible miniseries, its sequel A.D. the Bible Continues as well as The Dovekeepers, among other projects.

“This is the beginning of our new, multiplatform faith and family network, where the demand is greater than ever for family-friendly entertainment. This is the last unclaimed vertical. As we have already seen from the success of The Bible series and our 20 million social followers, this audience is looking for inspiring and uplifting programming that they can watch in a trusted and safe environment on any platform,” Downey said.
