Horgan created, writes and also executive produces the series alongside a team which includes lead actress Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City). Season two will see a further ten episodes of the comedy drama return in 2017.
‘Divorce’ follows Frances (Sarah Jessica Parker) whose attempt to leave her husband (Thomas Haden Church) of ten years proves more difficult than she thought.
President of HBO Programming Casey Bloys has noted the strength of the show’s fan base and their respective response to ‘Divorce’ since it went to air. Bloys has also announced additional seasons of ‘Westworld’ and ‘Insecure’.
Casey Bloys, President of HBO Programming:
“I think a show like ‘Divorce’ not only brings back one of our favourite pieces of talent, Sarah Jessica Parker, but it also explores an adult subject like divorce in an honest and unflinching way.”
Horgan’s earlier series ‘Catastrophe’ in which she also stars was renewed for a further two seasons in July of this year by Channel 4. ‘Catastrophe’ has earned her a BAFTA for Best Writer Comedy, as well as double IFTA wins for Best Writer – Soap and Comedy and Best Female Performance, for two consecutive years at the IFTA Gala TV Awards.
The first season of 'Catastrophe' currently airing to Irish audiences Mondays at 21:00 on RTÉ 2.
