Professional writers or writer/directors based in the UK are eligible to apply for the scheme, which will see ten participants undergo training to adapt previous work in the market-ready screenplays.
Training will commence in November, with an early deadline of Friday, October 28th and final deadline of Sunday, November 6th at midnight.
The new programme is created in partnership between Broadway Cinema in Nottingham and talent develop talent development executives Anna Seifert-Speck and Caroline Cooper Charles. It is funded with support from Creative Skillset, BFI Film Forever and the National Lottery.
Producers collaborating with writers on projects are also encouraged to apply. All applicants must have previous credits or publications in film, literature, theatre, or similar, along with a basic knowledge of screenwriting. A screenwriting sample must be provided with the application.
Successful applicants will partake in three two-day residential workshops, alongside additional mentoring. They will be guided through an analysis of their source material to find the screen story, while drawing on the expertise of sales and distribution specialists, producers, other writers working in adaptation and legal professionals.
To conclude, all writers will be given the opportunity to pitch their project to financiers.
