15 Sep 2016 : Katie McNeice
Speakers for the second module of the training programme have been revealed, with top level Irish and International names included in the line-up.

The programme which is co-funded by the Irish Film Board and the Creative Europe programme of the EU takes place next week, and has been designed in collaboration with the VFX Association of Ireland. The association is comprised of Windmill Lane, Screen Scene, Egg Post Production and Piranha Bar.

Participants on the programme are experienced filmmakers from Ireland and across Europe, including Finland, Belgium, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia and the UK.

Topics covered will include editing, VFX, lighting and rendering a CG character, compositing, green screen and the latest technology and industry developments such as VR and AR.

Compositing Supervisor Scott Pritchard of Industrial Light & Magic is set to host a case study of his work on ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’ on Tuesday, September 13th. Read more about this masterclass here.

Other tutors include Farah Abushwesha (The Last Photograph), VFX Editor Billy Campbell (Les Miserables), Director Paula Kehoe (I Am Galway) and Lead Technical Director Tim Chauncey (Brooklyn).

Alumni of the programme have been commended for their use of VFX, such as Subotica’s ‘Young Ones’, Brendan Muldowney’s ‘Pilgrimage’ and ‘Without Name’ produced by Brunella Cocchiglia which enjoys its premiere at TIFF 2016.

Sorcha Loughnane, Programme Director, VFX Script to Screen:
“VFX: Script to Screen has given local and international filmmakers an opportunity to really explore some of the digital technologies that underpin the industry today. It has also encouraged strong multi-disciplinary collaboration in a sector that occupies a unique space at the centre of creative content development and technological innovation. For the past four years, we have been hugely proud to host this programme in Ireland, where the interaction between creative storytelling and innovative technology is truly exemplified.”
