Trailer released for Terry George’s ‘The Promise’

The first trailer for ‘The Promise’ sees the ‘Hotel Rwanda’ helmer tackle the subject of the genocide campaign waged against the Armenians by the Turks in WWI.

Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina) and Charlotte le Bon (Anthropoid) lead the cast in a love triangle against the backdrop of the last days of the Ottoman Empire.

Written and Terry George and Robin Swicord, producers include William Horberg (Syndecoche, New York), Mike Medavoy (Robocop) and Ralph Winter (Captive).

The project is currently enjoying its premiere at TIFF 2016, having screened yesterday and with two further screenings scheduled for today and next Friday, September 16th.

Belfast-born George was nominated for an Oscars for his writing on both ‘Hotel Rwanda’ and ‘In the Name of the Father’ and received the Oscar for Best Short Film in 2011 with ‘The Shore’.
