24 Aug 2016 : Katie McNeice
The Irish actor stars alongside Nicole Kidman in the psychological thriller, directed by ‘The Lobster’ helmer Yorgos Lanthimos.

Shooting began in Cincinnati, Ohio recently on the project which is co-written by Lanthimos and Efthymis Filippou.

Irish talent Barry Keoghan (Mammal) also set to star alongside Raffey Cassidy (Snow White and the Huntsman), Bill Camp (12 Years a Slave) and Alicia Silverstone (Clueless).

Farrell plays a surgeon who takes in a young teenage boy. When the boy’s behaviour turns sinister, the surgeon is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice. Kidman is set to play the surgeon’s wife, as a central figure of the dysfunctional family.

Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures are producing the project, which is financed by Film4, the Irish Film Board and New Sparta Films. A24 are set to distribute in the US, with HanWay Films as worldwide sales agent. Element Pictures, Farrell and Lanthimos were all involved with the highly acclaimed co-production ‘The Lobster’, which generated over €1million in Ireland and the UK following its release in October of last year.

The project received the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2015 and saw Farrell nominated for Best Actor in a Lead Role in Film at the IFTA Film & Drama Awards 2015.
